Ekaterina Smirnova's (Niretak) audiovisual installation "Concerns Everyone" was first shown in Vladivostok in October 2023 as part of the Luminium Sensory Experience Festival and was a site-specific project in one of the premises of the Pospelov Fort.
Built on numerous contrasts, the installation combined the historical context and the voices of modern society, as well as the symbolism of the contradiction of war and peace, past and present, life and death.
In the center of the installation is a wooden mask created by an employee of the Vladivostok Fortress Museum Reserve and found by us in Fort No. 1.

Lost by its owner in the material world, the mask literally crumbles into pieces, indicating the finiteness of everything. Coming together again in a digital installation, the image embodies the permanence and cyclicity of history.

With the help of photogrammetry methods, the mask has found life in the digital world.
The idea of the instability of the present or the continuity of time is brought to the fore by the sound component of the installation — recordings of people peacefully strolling along the Vladivostok embankment.

Merging together, the sounds of passers—by form a single continuous stream, intersect and mix into a huge variety of voices, where everyone has their own story, their own life and their own worries.
The LUMINUM Sensory Experience Festival was held as part of the Vladivostok Fortress: Peaceful Fortifications expedition at MISIS (Moscow) and ITMO (St. Petersburg) universities.
